Presentation - Team - Schedule - - Downloads - Links

The project Promoting Biodiversity Conservation in Cambodia - Cambiodiversity has been implemented from April 2008 to October 2009, covered by the Commission for Development Studies at the OeAD Gmbh (KEF). It involved IDC (Coordinator), the Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia (RUA) and the University of Natural Ressources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna (BOKU).

The major aim of Cambiodiversity has been to assess the probability and conditions for a sustainable diversification of the Cambodian rice-predominated agriculture. By considering the technical, economic and social context, the project was to analyse the main reasons for the current predominance of rice and to evaluate the potential for agricultural diversification in Cambodia. Based on extensive assessment activities, including interviews with some 180 farmers, as well as with some 60 policy makers. scientists and other stakeholders in Cambodia, the project participants have jointly elaborated recommendations on how the Cambodian Agriculture could be diversified in a way that respects the interests and concerns from the local population while contributing to poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
