Organised by the BWC Implementation Support Unit, Office for Disarmament Affairs of the United Nations Office at Geneva together with the Geneva Forum, the seminar about Synthetic Biology: Building a Safe and Secure Future, will take place in Geneva, Switzerland at the 25th August 2010.

The US Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues held its first meeting on July 8-9 in Washington, DC.  The primary topic was synthetic biology.

Internships

IDC offers motivated students or recently graduated academics the opportunity to complete an internship in or Vienna office. Interns normally stay 3-6 months and get a working experience in an international environment. Depending on performance and job availability, interns may continue to work for IDC after completion of their intership.

Interns:

David Castillo

Born in Arnedo, La Rioja, Spain. Lincentiate in English Philology by the University of La Rioja (Logroño, 2002-07) and the University of Blaise Pascal (Clermont Ferrand, 2005-06). Eventual collaborator of the Austrian NGO GRENZENLOS since April 2008 and current European Activities Coordinator of the Spanish NGO GANTALCALÁ. After a six months internship on IDC thanks to the program Leonardo da Vinci and the support of the University of Valencia (April-September 2009), current collaborator and project assistant within the office in Vienna of IDC.

 

 

Sabrina Fredj

Born in Paris. Educational Background: B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Paris X. Currently registered in a Master of Global Studies and European Affairs at the University of Vienna. Her studies led her to live in several European countries (Germany, Spain, Austria) and in the US. She is member of “Youth Climate Translators” for which she occasionally translates texts related to climate change. At IDC she is currently involved in projects of sustainable energy and water sanitation (Project Sustainergynet). She is working at IDC from April - July 2010.
